Last Thursday, I was evaluated at George Washington Hospital, which offers a fast-track option for living donor transplants with less bureaucratic red tape. Excitingly, three incredible individuals have stepped forward as potential kidney donors, filling me with immense hope. Sharing my story increases my chances of finding a match, and you don’t have to live in Maryland to donate—you can be tested from any state. Please share my journey with your network to spread hope and potentially save a life. Thank you for your continued support.

Over Memorial Day weekend, my family and I retreated to Massanutten ski resort for a much-needed getaway. While we had ambitious plans to explore trails and enjoy outdoor activities, my body had other ideas. Instead, we embraced simpler pleasures like live music and naps, learning to honor my physical limits. This experience reminded me that the greatest adventures often lie in quiet moments. Despite the change in plans, the weekend was fulfilling, filled with gratitude for the present moment, and the joy of creating unhurried memories with our baby in a beautiful mountain setting.

Life has been a whirlwind lately, especially with medical appointments and preparing for Barney’s transition to daycare. Starting June 3rd, Barney will begin daycare as our night nurse’s time with us ends. Although it’s bittersweet, we believe this daycare will provide a nurturing environment for him. Balancing medical commitments and childcare has been challenging, but we’re optimistic about the positive changes ahead.

Dining out with dietary restrictions can be challenging, as I learned this week when my meals were served with salt despite clear instructions. These frustrating experiences remind me why I often prefer home-cooked meals. Until my dietary needs change, I’ll likely limit dining out and focus on safer options at home.

After a rough night with a migraine, I’m feeling better and ready to share details from my recent four-hour transplant team meeting. The session deepened my understanding of the process, and I’m grateful for my family’s support. Stay tuned for more updates!

Parenthood is full of precious moments. Today, despite the challenges, I shared a special first with Barney, lying beside him as he played with my sweatshirt drawstrings. It was a simple, heartwarming moment that deepened our bond—one I’ll cherish forever.

Living with chronic illness turns “How are you feeling?” into a complex question. Chronic pain, low energy, and emotional grief make it difficult to give a simple, positive answer, but I’m learning how.

We celebrated my dad’s 69th birthday with a lively dance party, reflecting on the profound nature of love. I felt deep gratitude for my parents’ unwavering support and the privilege of experiencing such strong, enduring love that sustains us through life’s challenges.
