Last Thursday, I was evaluated at George Washington Hospital as a potential site for my kidney transplant. Multiple evaluations increase my chances of finding a match, especially if a living donor doesn’t work out. However, a living donor remains my preference since these kidneys last longer than those from deceased donors.
GW: A Fast-Track Option
I’m excited to share that GW is now a strong option for a living donor transplant. They can move much faster compared to other hospitals, thanks to less bureaucratic red tape.
Potential Donors Have Stepped Up
In addition to be evaluated at GW Hospital, I am thrilled to share some life-changing news with you today! Recently, three incredible individuals have stepped forward as potential kidney donors. These are random acts of kindness- friends of friends who heard my story and felt compelled to help. Their gesture has filled me with immense hope and gratitude.
Here’s what I’ve realized: the more people who share my story, the greater my chances of finding a perfect match. So, I am reaching out to you with a humble request—please share my journey with your network.
You never know who among your friends or acquaintances might be willing and able to become my life-saving angel. You do not have to live in the state of Maryland to donate a kidney. In fact, you can reside in any state and still be tested as a potential donor.
The process is more flexible than you might think, and I’m here to provide all the information you might need if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Together, we can spread hope, raise awareness, and potentially save a life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support.
I’m currently seeking a kidney donor and I’m working with an organization called DOVE to help facilitate the experience.
