Danielle’s Story

Hi, I’m Danielle Roessle—a military spouse and mom to a 18-month-old son. On February 18, 2025, I received a life-saving kidney transplant. But soon after, it failed. This is my journey.

I was a healthy, active woman until I gave birth to my son in February 2024. Complications during delivery changed everything—I lost my kidneys and suddenly found myself navigating motherhood while fighting for my life.

Since then, I’ve documented my journey—from surviving dialysis as a new mom to launching a kidney campaign in search of a living donor, to receiving a transplant, and having it fail.

Through my vlogging and writing, I explore not just my own experience but the deeper realities of living with chronic illness, navigating the medical system, and, most importantly, the life-saving impact of organ donation. My hope is to spark deeper reflection, educate, and inspire meaningful conversations.

Whether you’re here as a friend, a fellow patient, or simply curious about what this life is like with kidney disease, I hope you’ll follow along. This story is still unfolding.

Morning Moments with Barney

I have important health updates: I have a crucial meeting with INOVA Fairfax to get listed for a deceased kidney donor in Virginia, and my appointment at John Hopkins in Baltimore has been moved up, allowing me to get listed in Maryland sooner. These steps increase my chances for a kidney donor, bringing hope and gratitude for the support I receive.

July 4th, 2024

Barney turns 5 months old tomorrow and loves his bouncer, filling the house with his giggles. Despite facing dialysis on the 4th of July, I hope to catch some fireworks later. Barney will be with Ian and my parents, giving me comfort. Wishing everyone a fantastic 4th of July filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories.

Becoming a Donor

Last Thursday, I was evaluated at George Washington Hospital, which offers a fast-track option for living donor transplants with less bureaucratic red tape. Excitingly, three incredible individuals have stepped forward as potential kidney donors, filling me with immense hope. Sharing my story increases my chances of finding a match, and you don't have to live in Maryland to donate—you can be tested from any state. Please share my journey with your network to spread hope and potentially save a life. Thank you for your continued support.
